By Wirnida Azman Jumping on trampolines may seem like it’s all about fun, but personal trainers believe there are many health benefits. Leaping about on a trampoline is a relatively low impact exercise, but it’s a high intensity cardio workout. That means it raises the heart rate much faster and helps to burn fat. The Jump About Trampoline Park opened on last month. It’s director, Reuben Campbell says exercise facilities like this are becoming more popular and could help with the issue of obesity in Australia. “Some of the feedback I’ve heard are smaller homes and backyard sizes in Australia has reduced the area for children to run around… this gives children more opportunity for developing good healthy habits,” he said. Around Perth, trampoline parks have been opening over the last few years and they’ve become a place for everyone, even families, to enjoy.Michelle Southwell brought her 4-year-old son to Jump About. She says it’s a great way for family to have some playtime together. “ I get on the trampoline with my son all the time and it is a great atmosphere for family to play together and we all leave here happy,” she said. Mr Campbell says Jump About tries to keep the park safe and risk free for users. But he says there are no guarantees users won’t leave with broken bones or some form of injury. But he says it’s much safer than other sports like soccer and rugby. Jump About says it will cater for anyone aged 3 and above. Families with children under 3 can still enjoy the facility, as there’s a foam area for those children to enjoy while their older siblings get on the trampolines.
