By Olivia Haynes If someone said to you a lifetime of free churros is up for grabs and all you have to do is get one small tattoo, what would you do?The Northbridge and East Victoria Park San Churro restaurants are claiming they will offer you a lifetime of free churros if you get a San Churro logo tattooed. But one of the participating stores, East Victoria Park, refused to discuss their scheme yesterday with The Bounce until further terms and conditions were written by their lawyer. “There is potential for vulnerable people to do something they may regret down the track,” said Catherine Archer, Public Relations lecturer at Murdoch University. It appears many people are keen to get on board with another tattoo if it means free churros. “I’ve certainly heard about the San Churro offer, and I’m definitely debating getting one. With the money I spend on San Churros it will save me money in the long run,” said Chelsea Johnson, a Murdoch University student. The Australian Medial Association has labelled the marketing ideas as “moronic” and “bizarre” and it appears they are not alone with their concerns. Public Relations academics fear some of the potential outcomes may be longer lasting than the free food. They suggest San Churro would probably need to consider their health and safety responsibilities to customers. “If something happens during the tattooing there would be issues around that also,” said Catherine Archer. For some, a San Churro brand tattoo would be another addition to their collection of body art. “I’ve got six tattoos, I got my first the day I turned 18 because I have wanted them since I was 15,” said Chelsea Johnson.
